Neuchâtel, where watchmaking, museums, and imagination meet
A flagship region of Swiss watchmaking, the Canton of Neuchâtel blends craftsmanship, creativity and bold innovation. In La Chaux‑de‑Fonds, and Le Locle—both listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites—the historical urban planning shaped by the watch industry tells the story of a unique art form that built the region. Here, watchmaking is lived, not only admired. Learn the fine and precise gestures of micromechanics with LMEC in the Neuchâtel Mountains, dive into the collections of the International Watch and Clock Museum (closed for renovation until spring 2026) and the Watchmaking Museum Le Locle (Château des Monts), or experience hands-on contemporary watchmaking in Neuchâtel, by assembling your own timepiece—such as at BA111OD.
But the Neuchâtel Region is also a vibrant cultural land that inspires young and old alike. From the archaeological treasures of the Laténium to the artworks of the Museum of Fine Arts of La Chaux‑de‑Fonds, to the Natural History Museum of Neuchâtel, the MUZOO, Évologia and the Neuchâtel Museum of Art and History, the region offers countless inspiring places to discover as a family.
A new cultural story is now expanding the region’s identity: the Tour du Fantastique, an immersive tower dedicated to fantasy worlds and the power of imagination—already rooted in the Val‑de‑Travers through the local universe of the fairy (“fée”). With this new urban cultural landmark, the region embraces an emerging and original cultural angle: wonder, bold creativity, and stories that push the boundaries of reality. This imaginative dimension complements the region’s historic legacy of precision and cut-edge innovation, affirming that here, excellence also fuels dreams.
Between craftsmanship, heritage and emotions, the Pays de Neuchâtel now invites you to explore a world where the art of time meets the magic of imagination—combining precision, curiosity, creativity… and enchantment.
