Between frosted landscapes and winter light: the Pays de Neuchâtel in Motion

In winter, the Pays de Neuchâtel reveals a distinctive atmosphere shaped by contrasts and light. As landscapes are covered with frost or snow and the air grows crisp and invigorating, nature invites visitors to slow down, observe and breathe. The Neuchâtel ridgelines are ideal for winter walks, on foot or with snowshoes, along trails that are sometimes powdery with snow, sometimes simply dusted with frost. Mountain bikers and cyclists can still enjoy adapted routes, while lakeside walks offer peaceful moments bathed in a soft, crystalline winter light.

In the Neuchâtel mountains, iconic sites take on a whole new dimension:
  • Lake Taillères, often frozen by the cold, becomes a graphic and soothing winter scene,
  • the Saut du Doubs (highest waterfall in the Jura massif), where flowing water contrasts strikingly with snow-covered banks, offer a breathtaking spectacle.
In the Val de Travers:
  • the majestic Creux du Van reveals itself beneath a winter mantle that highlights the power of its cliffs.
Along the lakeshore:
  • Chaumont offers spectacular views of the Alps, especially luminous when the winter air is clear and pure.
Whether hiking, snowshoeing, cycling or simply enjoying a moment outdoors, every winter experience brings visitors closer to a calm, authentic and deeply inspiring natural environment. Move, breathe, explore — and let yourself be captivated by the winter beauty of the Pays de Neuchâtel.
