Looking for a family getaway in French-speaking Switzerland, combining lakes, charming towns and easy access to nature? The Jura & Three-Lakes region offers a 48-hour itinerary between Biel and Murten, designed for both children and adults.

Along the way, enjoy a wide variety of landscapes: historic towns, lakeside paths, interactive museums and well-preserved natural areas. Ideal for a family escape that blends discovery, relaxation and shared moments. A friendly atmosphere, activities suitable for all ages and a refreshing setting come together for a memorable weekend with the family.

Start your family getaway with an interactive visit to Cité du Temps in Biel, followed by lunch in the old town. In the afternoon, head to the Taubenloch Gorge for a fun quiz along the trail, then enjoy a break at the zoo. End the day and spend the night at Camping Sutz, on the shores of Lake Biel, a perfect spot for families.

The interactive museum Cité du Temps immerses you in the history and innovation of two iconic regional brands. A must-see for watchmaking enthusiasts and for anyone with a curiosity for discovery.

Restaurant St-Gervais, located in the old town of Biel, is a true local institution. Its flavourful cuisine highlights regional and seasonal products, with vegetarian and vegan options as well as meat, fish and traditional Swiss specialities, all served in a warm and relaxed atmosphere.

A squirrel and a dipper bird guide you along a 2 km trail between Biel and Frinvillier. The Taubenloch Gorge provides a spectacular setting for an easy walk, enhanced by interactive stations.

At the exit of the gorge, this zoo is a pleasant extension of the visit. Located at the foot of Boujean, it is home to around 150 native animal species. A peaceful place, much appreciated by families.

Located on the shores of Lake Biel, Camping Sutz welcomes families in a natural setting ideal for a relaxed stay. The site offers a large playground, direct access to swimming and various sports activities. For something a little different, spend the night in wooden barrels, choose a comfortable room or simply pitch your tent at this campsite with views of St. Peter’s Island.

Leave Biel and start the day at Papiliorama, a tropical world where butterflies, birds and exotic animals roam freely among lush vegetation. Continue with a guided tour of Murten aboard a small tourist train. Afterwards, enjoy a sweet treat or an ice cream at Gelateria Emilia, right in the heart of the old town. In the afternoon, follow the Sentier des Vignes for a pleasant walk between the lake and the vineyards, then stop for a gourmet break at Chez Guillaume in Sugiez, known for its artisan specialities.

Papiliorama immerses you in a tropical climate rich in colour and biodiversity. In the tropical garden, around 60 butterfly species roam freely among more than 120 plant species, alongside exotic birds and other nocturnal animals such as sloths, bats and ocelots.

Take the small tourist train and discover Murten from a different perspective, winding through its medieval streets and along its historic ramparts.

Enjoy artisan Italian ice cream, homemade vacherin, mini cones, fruity sorbets, creamy milkshakes and Sicilian cannoli – all freshly made for maximum flavour. Pick up your treat and enjoy a stroll through the old town of Murten.

Discover the signposted vineyard trails and follow the panels along three thematic and educational routes. The Vully vineyards are the smallest in Switzerland and offer beautiful views over Lake Murten as well as the Alps.

Treat yourself to an afternoon snack at the end of the trail and enjoy a bite of a sweet or savoury regional speciality at Boulangerie Guillaume, located in the heart of the village of Sugiez.
