Forests, panoramic views and vineyards characterise this varied autumn hike from Magglingen via Twannberg to the shores of Lake Biel.
From Magglingen, the hike leads through autumn forests to Twannberg. Along the way, sweeping views open up over the Seeland region and Lake Biel – on a clear day, you can see as far as the Bernese Alps.
The route continues through the peaceful landscape above the lake towards Schernelz. Gradually, the forests give way to the vineyards of the Lake Biel wine region. On the descent to Ligerz, enjoy views of Lake Biel, St. Peter’s Island and the opposite shore.
The hike ends by the lake in Ligerz. For the return journey, take the boat and admire the vineyards from a different perspective – a relaxing end to an autumn day by Lake Biel.

- This route is a great alternative, as the hiking trail through the Twannbach Gorge is closed until spring 2027.
- Combine your hike with a visit to one of the wine festivals in the Lake Biel wine region.
