On this 45-minute tour of the exhibitions by Claude Bühler and Benoit Chattaway, Amelie Schüle, Director and Curator, explains how how goes tomorrow and L’Étiquette Bleue came about. She also shares why we show them together and how they fit into this year’s programme Handle with Care, which looks at action and responsibility in photography.
In both exhibitions, photography is not a distant view from the outside but a way of connecting with people and places: Claude Bühler spent five years following a collectively run farm, while Benoit Chattaway brings old photographs from a village in Ticino into dialogue with his own images. In doing so, they touch on two questions that occupy photography today: sustainability for Bühler, and for Chattaway, how our way of seeing changes as images become increasingly digital and artificial.
