In "Étiquette Bleue," photographer Benoit Chattaway explores the work of Domenico Quirici, a local photography pioneer active in the 1890s. The project examines the infrastructures through which images are created, viewed, and shared, and how older visual forms continue to shape contemporary image culture. The project itself has taken shape through successive formats, navigating the familiar interplay between exhibitions and photobooks.
This evening begins with a simple question: What happens to the same work when it moves from the wall to the page? What is lost, gained, or transformed in the process? From there, we broaden our perspective. Today, photography is largely created and distributed in digital form. We ask what this new form inherits from the printed page and what it creates anew.
Conceived as a space for expansion, "Encounters" invites artists to design modes of mediation that renew perspectives on the exhibition and deepen the experience.
The evening is organized in collaboration with NEAR. Further details about the speakers will follow.
