The journey starts at the Aare Canal in Nidau. From there, you simply drift downstream, passing green riverbanks, small marinas, and peaceful natural landscapes. Along the way, there is plenty of time for a refreshing swim, a picnic on the boat, or simply soaking up the summer atmosphere.
This route is ideal for a day trip with friends or family, combining nature, relaxation, and the authentic charm of the Seeland region. Once you arrive in Büren an der Aare, take some time to stroll through the picturesque old town or stop at one of the riverside restaurants.

- Swimming skills are required
- Bringing a life jacket is mandatory, wearing it strongly recommended

- In principle, the lock can also be passed with an inflatable boat
- Smaller boats weighing less than 50 kg should, if possible, be carried around the lock
- Passenger boats always have priority
- A waiting dock is located on the right-hand side approximately 100 metres before the water lock
- If the traffic light is red, wait at the waiting dock and do not approach the lock gate
- When the light turns green, enter the lock promptly and hold on to the pipes next to the wooden posts; please do not tie up your boat
- Wait until the locking process has been completed before continuing
- It is recommended to call +41 32 331 61 16 approximately 30 to 60 minutes before arriving at the lock
