La Caquerelle-Les Rangiers: cultural region
CRAC Museum showcases the cultural heritage of Col des Rangiers. In this modern and immersive space, visitors discover the fascinating history of the Lords of Asuel. In 1386, alongside knights from Alsace, Swabia and Switzerland, these noblemen fought in the Battle of Sempach for the Duchy of Austria against the Old Swiss Confederacy. A priceless treasure, the Lord of Asuel's banner is the only surviving standard of the Habsburg forces who took to the battlefield that day.
The remains of the Sentinelle des Rangiers, an imposing monumental statue by Neuchâtel artist Charles L’Eplattenier, greet visitors to the museum in majestic fashion. Its rich and complex history is told inside, from creation to destruction.
And there are more captivating stories to explore – from witch trials to the St-Ursanne-Les Rangiers hill climb – in Switzerland’s finest little museum.
