Nature and innovation
Villeret After passing through the watchmaking village of St-Imier, the trail climbs through the forest to the upper funicular station at Mont-Soleil. On the way, it's well worth stopping at the Belvedere to enjoy the view of the Vallon de St-Imier and the Chasseral. Following the few houses on Mont-Soleil, you come to the solar power plant and astronomical observatory, part of the Espace découverte Énergie. From here, follow the Sentier des Monts, an educational trail linking the Mont-Soleil solar power plant to the Mont Crosin wind farm, with games and information on renewable energies, flora and fauna, global warming, geology and weather. The hike ends with around 500 meters of negative elevation gain before descending to Villeret, the final stage of the itinerary.
