Bénichon Festival of the countryside

From to

In September, we celebrate the Bénichon in the Broye!

Ham, leg of lamb, meringues, and dances, this is the programme for the second weekend of September in the Broye.

Originally, the Bénichon was a religious festival to give thanks for all that nature had provided and for the year’s harvest. Over time, the religious ceremony faded in favour of the popular and gastronomic celebration. The Bénichon menu is the star of the event, as well as, unique to the Broye, the raising of the dances by the youth.
