The Museum traces the history of the famous bar turning machine, from 1872 to the present day, through more than 50 tours.
''In somewhat less than a century, the town of Moutier has established its position as one of Switzerland's main centers for the manufacture of turning machines. These machines can produce custom made metal parts in any size and shape, such as pieces to assemble watches or tools used in medicine, to just name two. The large number of turret lathes on show, the 50 or so turning machines with sliding headstocks, the drawings, various documents and photographs all helped me to learn about the development of machine tools and to gain a better understanding of the shared passion of the people who played a part in their success. A splendid human venture!''
