In Mathod near Yverdon-les-Bains, La Croix Fédérale has been a local institution since 1845. Its specialties are meats - served as a classic fondue or “on a sword” - and menus of the day. But there is also a vegetarian dish on offer as well as the famous perch fillets.
La Croix Fédérale, an authentic “pinte vaudoise” (a typical country inn in the canton of Vaud), delights its guests with simple, hearty and tasty dishes. The restaurant’s specialty attracts meat lovers: medaillon of horse or beef (or game in autumn) grilled on a small sword over a fire directly at the guests’ table. Vigneron fondues (local meat fondue) are a more classic but just as popular meal, which is sometimes offered as a highly appreciated dish of the day.
The restaurant is also renowned for the warm welcome of its young manageress, Audrey Piguet. Her attachment to this family bistro is reflected in each of her gestures.
