In this workshop, we’ll explore and learn the Yelli (yodel) and polyphonic chants of the Baka.

For generations, the polyphony of the Baka people, living in the Central African rainforest, has been woven into daily life — from work to ritual.

Among the Baka, singing builds community, brings healing, and soothes children to sleep. The Yelli, sung mostly by women at dawn, is believed to enchant the animals, create harmony with the forest, and support success in the hunt.
