In Tramelan, a Douglas fir tower lifts you into the treetops for a new forest experience.
In the heart of the Sous la Lampe forest in Tramelan, this tower made of regional Douglas fir invites visitors of all ages to gain a new perspective. A spiral staircase winds around one of the forest’s largest Douglas trees without touching it, leading to a platform 5 metres above ground that accommodates up to 20 people.
Built in 2022 during the Forest Festival by the Association des forestiers du Jura bernois and Valforet SA together with regional professionals, the structure incorporates 55 m³ of local timber. Its durable design makes use of the natural resistance of Douglas heartwood.
Educational panels highlight the forest’s essential role: CO2 storage, water protection, renewable resources and recreation. An immersive and informative nature experience.
