Join us on this fascinating excursion and encounter the Northern Lapwing – once a common and widespread breeding bird, now surviving only thanks to targeted conservation measures.
Our excursion takes us to the Lapwing conservation area of BirdLife Switzerland in the Grand Marais, where careful and extensive habitat protection and restoration efforts have recreated suitable breeding conditions. Today, this site is home to one of the three largest Lapwing colonies in Switzerland.
With binoculars in hand, we will immerse ourselves in its habitat, observe its striking behaviour and admire its iridescent plumage. Look forward to a special morning filled with nature experiences and insightful explanations about the project – in the heart of a landscape that once again provides vital habitat for this characteristic species.
