Nelson Schaub

Nelson Schaub (*1995), winner of the Kiefer Hablitzel | Göhner Art Prize 2025, works with performance, installation, video, poetry, drawing and music. Particularly influenced by a do-it-yourself aesthetic that stems from queer and countercultural heritage, Schaub’s work evokes a wide range of emotions that are both dramatic and volatile, often ambiguous or contradictory. It deals with the tensions between personal narratives and public discourse, between gender nihilism and standardised ideals.
