How does an exhibition or a book emerge from a largely unknown archive? Which images are selected and what stories do they (not) tell? What does it mean when an estate only receives attention posthumously? Who takes responsibility for this? And why is it important to make such archives visible?
In a conversation about the significance of archival work, Judith Luks (edition clandestin, Biel/Bienne), Isabel Balzer (FemArchive – Archive of Women Artists in Switzerland), Teresa Gruber (Fotostiftung Schweiz) and Amelie Schüle (Photoforum) discuss the challenges and opportunities that projects such as the one on Peggy Kleiber entail. They address fundamental questions of archival work, but also the special circumstances and stories surrounding the Peggy Kleiber archive.
