Photoforum Pasquart is pleased to present Tactics and Mythologies, a compelling exhibition by New York-based artist duo Andrea Orejarena & Caleb Stein. This marks the first stop of this traveling exhibition, following its debut at the Deichtorhallen Hamburg. The exhibition explores the interplay between contemporary mythology, disinformation, and visual storytelling in the digital age, forming part of an ongoing dialogue about how images shape our collective consciousness.
Through their multi-layered approach, Orejarena & Stein weave together documentary, conceptual, and research-based photographic strategies to examine how narratives and image cultures evolve in a networked world. Their project American Glitch —at the core of this exhibition— investigates visual mythologies circulating online and their intersections with historical memory, conspiracy theories, and the aesthetics of digital simulation. The duo’s practice involves assembling an extensive archive of over 2,000 images, including found material and AI-generated visuals, offering a critical yet poetic lens on the American media landscape.
About the artists
Orejarena & Stein (b. Colombia, 1994 & UK, 1994) are a multimedia artist duo currently based in NY. Their conceptual, documentary work employs the intersection of technology, memory, and desire to explore American mythologies and narratives. Orejarena & Stein are fascinated with the emergent property that comes with making each photograph together with a single camera. Their work often involves extensive research into how their images relate to collective image making and the ocean of images surrounding us.
