Max Pfänder. FROM SKETCH TO BRONZE

International Museum Day

On the occasion of International Museum Day, the Museum of Art and History opens its doors for a journey into the heart of form, image, and rhythm—where movement becomes eternity.
How can a gesture be captured when it disappears? How can dance be transcribed when it leaves the body to become frozen in stone, bronze, or the light of cinema?

Throughout the day (11 a.m.–5 p.m.), an immersive video projection will be presented in the Cannon Room, highlighting the work of sculptor Max Pfänder, whose art explores the instant transformed into form—motion captured in material.

A rare experience to be lived on this special day.

FROM SKETCH TO BRONZE

The exhibition delves into the artistic universe of Max Pfänder (1900–1969), his creative process, and techniques. The artist's studio—his intimate space of creation—offers a glimpse into the richness of his work.
A series of filmed testimonies provide additional insights into this German-born artist who lived and worked for many years in La Neuveville.

Continuous screening: a video projection by Mischa Vasylyev, where image and music converse, sound sculpts movement, and fleeting moments are captured in light.

Mischa Vasylyev

Originally from Biel, Mischa discovered his passion for videography at the age of 11. This early calling led to a dynamic career transforming the ephemeral into lasting impressions.
Now studying at ETH Zurich, he continues to refine both his technical and artistic skills. Mischa has collaborated with renowned entities such as Trophy Racing, ADFestival, the rock band M.O.T.H.E.R., and the Gymnasium Biel-Seeland.
With his background in music, he has mastered the art of capturing rhythm on screen, harmonizing image and sound. His dedication to innovation and quality brings a unique and captivating perspective to our festival.
