Discover Murten in a different way on a lively bilingual tour blending historical facts with delightfully absurd storytelling.
Discover Murten in a different way: between historical truths and delightfully absurd hydro-lies.
Bilingual, lively and full of surprising anecdotes. Experience Murten through the duo of the city guide and Rigoleau – somewhere between history, humour and H₂O.
The story begins in the museum: the city guide opens the tour – but no sooner has he begun than Rigoleau appears, a self-proclaimed expert in eaux potables et non portables and master of “hydro-lies”. From that moment on, everything revolves around water: the element that shaped Murten, fuelled myths and which Rigoleau embellishes at will.
A playful duel unfolds between the guide and Rigoleau: facts meet exaggerations, history meets humour. The route leads past fountains, springs, reservoirs and the lake – places that have been telling stories about water for centuries. In between, the quiz “Frai or Vaux?” challenges the audience: truth or hydro-lie? Red algae or red wine residues?
An elephant in the museum – or in the lake? To conclude, Handel’s Water Music is played, while Rigoleau claims it was composed for Lake Murten. Is that true? By now, the audience knows: between truth and water, there is always room for a drop of humour.
