A rich programme of cultural and heritage events throughout 2026, marking 550 years since the Battles of Grandson and Murten in 1476.

From March to October 2026, Grandson and Murten come together to mark the Battles of 1476 with around forty projects and events.

Exhibitions, cultural events, historical trails, educational initiatives and political gatherings will shape this year of remembrance and dialogue. Rooted in an exceptional shared heritage, the programme will highlight the historical significance of these conflicts and their lasting impact.
Key moments include the official ceremonies on 2 March in Grandson and 20 June in Murten. An unmissable event for history enthusiasts, curious minds and visitors seeking a deeper, more thoughtful perspective on the past.

Rediscover the castle through a lively programme of activities organised by a dedicated team of volunteers. For over 20 years, this popular event has attracted thousands of visitors. Open to all, it combines a festive atmosphere with a strong commitment to historical authenticity.

Du 2 février au 13 avril et From 2 May to 10 October 2026

The Murten Museum invites visitors to (re)discover this famous battle and the way it has been commemorated over the centuries through two temporary exhibitions.

Enigmadventure invites you to embark on a one-of-a-kind journey through Murten.

The year 2026 holds particular historical significance for Murten: it marks the 550th anniversary of the Battle of Murten, an event that has had a lasting impact on the history of the region and of Switzerland as a whole.

The Youth Festival commemorates the 1476 Battle of Morat/Murten. The colorful Youth Festival features many activities and the finely decorated city fountains.

Next summer, the story of the Battle of Murten returns to the stage from a new perspective. Rather than focusing on the events on the battlefield, the production tells the story of the people who were trapped inside the town.

From 9 to 30 August 2026

The Murten Classics summer festival has been taking place in Murten and the surrounding area since 1989. With more than 30 concerts and 800 musicians from all over Europe, historical venues such as the courtyard of Murten Castle are played.

From 3 to 4 October 2026

In 1476, the Confederates won a brilliant victory over Charles the Bold in Murten.
