Created in 1982, the Swiss Museum of Fashion (MuMode) organises temporary exhibitions at the Castle of Yverdon-les-Bains. A unique cultural must for all "fashionistas".
The MuMode draws on its extensive collection, dating from the 18th century to the present day, when planning its exhibitions on a variety of themes: film costumes, haute couture, moulding techniques, children's fashion, up-and-coming designers, and intelligent fabrics.
Its archive collections, which can be viewed by prior arrangement, include stored items from the couturier Robert Piguet (Yverdon-les-Bains, 1898–Lausanne, 1953), founder of an haute couture house in Paris (1933-1951). Trained by Paul Poiret and Redfern, he opened his house overlooking the Rond-Point des Champs-Elysées and hired young and promising designers such as Christian Dior, Hubert de Givenchy and Marc Bohan. At its peak, the fashion house employed more than 400 people in the French capital.
