Housed in the 18th century town hall Hôtel de Ville, the Yverdon-les-Bains Contemporary Arts Centre (CACY) offers free admission to make art accessible to all. This unique concept in the Lake Geneva Region is a good example of the historical site policy adopted by the town, the recipient of the Wakker Prize in 2009.

Opened in June 2013, the CACY (Yverdon-les-Bains Contemporary Arts Centre) is the first of its kind in the Lake Geneva Region. The purpose of this free exhibition centre is to promote art and make it accessible to all. Located in the elegant setting of the town hall, in the centre of Yverdon-les-Bains, the CACY offers an original programme of events such as cultural lunch breaks or guided tours for children from the age of 4.

This siting of a modern art centre in a historical building is a great example of the policy adopted by Yverdon-les-Bains, the 2009 recipient of the Wakker Prize, for its effective management of public space. Created in 1972, the Wakker Prize is awarded each year by the Swiss Heritage Society to a place or an organisation that has demonstrated an effort to redefine urban space, in tune with its historic authenticity.
