Initium offers introductory courses in watchmaking open to the public at the production site in Le Noirmont, where the participants can assemble and take home their own mechanical Swiss watch. Create your own timekeeper and choose from a wide range of movements, cases, faces, dials, and wristbands.

Several course options are available, including:

Alpha : Introduction to watchmaking: Theoretical aspects of the functioning of a mechanical watch, assembling and disassembling of a movement.
Duration : 3h

Gamma : Create your own mechanical watch: Assemble your watch after the design has been defined from a wide selection of components.
Duration : a half day

Delta : Create your own mechanical watch: Disassemble and reassemble a movement, then build your own watch by choosing from a wide selection of components. Lunch with the watchmaker at the Relais Château Georges Wenger is included.
Duration : a day

Other options are also available, such as the whirlwind course.

Good to know

- In addition to the instructions given by a professional watchmaker while assembling the watch, the courses at Initium also provide interesting information about the history of the regional watchmaking industry as well as theoretical knowledge about the functioning of a mechanical watch.
- For large groups, three-hour introductions to watchmaking are also available. In this case, participants will have the opportunity to disassemble and reassemble a working movement, allowing them to understand how a mechanical movement works in its entirety.
- In the general information section, add that we hold these courses at our workshops in
- Noirmont and Geneva, but that we also travel throughout Switzerland.
