L'Arboulastre, gates of time, a mediaeval restaurant. Servers wearing period costume in a historic, friendly setting with dishes prepares according to mediaeval recipes

Located a stone’s throw from the Castle of Grandson, L’Arboulastre catapults guests right back to the Middle Ages. This is not surprising since the lord of this place is known as Châtelain (castellan – commander of the castle) and he is a great fan of mediaeval feasts. His idea is to prepare regional and seasonal produce following recipes from ancient times and to serve these dishes in period costumes, in an ancient wine cellar lit entirely by candles. As far as drinks go, guests can clink glasses with Hypocras (a red flavoured wine) or with white wine perfumed with sage, much used during the Middle Ages for its digestive properties.
