For the 125th birthday of the Swiss composer Robert Oboussier, who was murdered in 1957, the first CD release of his music and a bilingual book (FR/DE) (edition clandestin) bringing together contributions from various authors will be published. These publications will shed light on Oboussier's music, his biography, and his tragic legacy from different perspectives.
Five commemorative events are planned for autumn 2025, where Oboussier's music will be performed, and its history and significance will be discussed with various guests. Robert Oboussier was a key figure in New Music. He was not only a composer with a Europe-wide reputation but also the Vice-Director of SUISA and the head of the Archives of Swiss Musical Art.
Musicians:
Aurora Pajón
Eva-Maddalena Fleszar
Grzegorz Fleszar
Tomas Bächli
This project is the first to make Oboussier's historically significant story, along with his musically important compositions from the periods before, during, and after World War II, accessible to the public. In this anniversary year, the aim is to break the taboo surrounding the politically and media-driven scandal that caused Robert Oboussier and his work to fall into oblivion. The music will be made accessible again, and the previously silenced story will be discussed publicly. His compositions are valuable historical artifacts that must not be forgotten or, most importantly, kept silent any longer.
