Grand Tour of Switzerland - Stage 5
During this part of the tour you will travel through the Val-de-Travers and follow the Areuse to Champ-du-Moulin. But you really must take a detour to the unmissable Creux du Van. For those who continue their journey, a photo spot of the Grand Tour is located in Brot-Dessous and offers a magnificent view of the rocky cirque. The road then descends to the villages of Colombier and Auvernier, renowned for their Chasselas, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines. The route then continues to the centre of the old town of Neuchâtel.

Asphalt mines
A maze of galleries that still echo to the hard labour of the miners and horses who toiled here to extract precious asphalt from the mountain. Don your helmet and keep hold of your torch as you plunge into the history of this mining operation. And then savour a local speciality: ham cooked in asphalt!
Continue your day with the Asphalt Story exhibition, which will show you how the deposit was created and moved to la Presta, or meet the animals in our biotope, the Miners' Garden, with your explorer's bag!

Auvernier
Between hillsides and lake shores, the historic village of Auvernier invites you to stroll along the cobblestone streets lined with elegant winegrowers' houses and dotted with old fountains. The Château d'Auvernier and the many other wineries can look back on a long winemaking tradition. Also not to be missed: a swim on the magnificent beach to the south of the village and a walk along the banks towards the marina.
