Due to the exceptional situation concerning Covid-19, the Guiding Group of the Global Agenda for Sustainable Livestock together with the Organizing Committee are forced to postpone the 10th MSP meeting of GASL from 15 to 18 June 2020 to 7 to 11 June 2021.
 
We kindly ask you to save the new dates. More details will follow in due course.
 
To keep the momentum going, the Guiding Group of the Global Agenda for Sustainable Livestock has decided to organize and conduct a virtual multistakeholder partnership meeting in September 2020.
From Crisis to Action – Lessons from COVID-19 for Building a Better Future through Sustainable Livestock (GASL online MSP Meeting, 14-18 September 2020)

The 10th annual Global Agenda for Sustainable Livestock (GASL) Multistakeholder Partnership (MSP) Meeting will be organized in Delémont, Switzerland. Presentations, panels, posters, field tours, and discussions through the week will focus on the theme “The Multiple Roles of Livestock in Sustainable Development”.
 
The 10th Multi-Stakeholder Partnership Meeting (GASL MSP 2021) in Delémont will analyze various livestock systems globally and showcase specific features of Swiss, French and European livestock systems to demonstrate their achievements and further potential for sustainable development. With expected attendance of 300 decision makers from governments, international organizations, NGOS, research institutes and academia, social movements and the private sector from up to 50 livestock producing countries, it is a unique opportunity for international leaders working in the sector to ensure their sustainability achievements are visible and their voices are heard at the GASL discussion tables.

In Delémont, the focus will be on the following topics:
 
  ·  Core theme: The Multiple Roles of Livestock in Sustainable Development
  ·  Key elements for a sustainable livestock sector at global, European and         
     Swiss levels
  ·  Field visits: Cases of successful practice change in the Swiss and French
     livestock based value chains
  ·  Emerging issues: Special focus will be given to the impact of the Corona Virus     
     Pandemic on the livestock sector and on global food security and nutrition
  ·  Livestock and culture: the multiple roles of the local horse breed, alpine       
     livestock culture and products
  ·  Interaction with farmers from Switzerland and France (field visits and           
     Organic-Livestock Day)

 Objectives
  ·  The multiple roles of the livestock sector in support of sustainable    
     development will be introduced with science-based inputs. These inputs will
     be discussed and validated by the participants.
  ·  In policy fora, essential political frame conditions will be discussed and further
     developed. Enabling frame conditions considering and fostering the multiple
     roles of livestock will lead to sustainability in livestock-based value chains.
  ·  The programme will specifically refer to the emerging issue of the Corona Virus 
      Pandemic and will discuss approaches to meet the challenges the pandemic
      poses to the livestock sector as well as to food security and nutrition at global,
      regional, national and local levels.
 ·   During targeted field visits in Switzerland and France, examples of best     
     practices and practice change along the entire livestock based value chains will 
     be shown.

REGISTRATION

Registration is open until 15 August 2020. Kindly register individually. Two different tickets can be booked: One-day Pass for only one day and Full Conference Pass for 2 and more days.

ACCOMMODATION
Bookings are possible until 15 August 2020.
For participants with accommodation outside of Delémont, transport by shuttle bus will be organized. Shuttle bus service will only be provided for the accommodation listed on the link above.

Important remark: In case the meeting has to be postponed or cancelled because of the current situation of the Coronavirus, the registration fee will be fully refunded. Hotels can be cancelled up to 30 days before the meeting. After this date, the total price of the reservation will be charged. Cancellation has to be made individually. TRAVEL AND VISA INFORMATION

POSTER, VIDEO AND PARALLEL SESSION CONTRIBUTION
Video Sessions: The venue in Delémont has two cinemas; there will be a “Livestock film festival” on Wednesday evening, 18-21h. Participants have the opportunity to submit a short film of max. 15 minutes. If the film is shorter, they have the option to add some words at the end of the presentation or start a discussion with the audience in order to use the full 15 minutes available. In total, 20 slots are available. The Organizing Committee will make a decision until 10 August 2020.

Parallel Sessions: There is space for 24 presentations during the parallel sessions on Tuesday. Participants are invited to submit proposals for their presentations. The presentations need to focus on the multiple roles of livestock and have to refer to important emerging issues such as the Corona Virus Pandemic. The selection of the contributions for the parallel sessions will be made until 10 August 2020.

Poster Sessions: Posters will be displayed during the entire conference and will be discussed in specific poster sessions. Participants are invited to submit their proposals for posters. The selection of the posters to be displayed will be made until 10 August 2020.

SUPPORTING ORGANIZATIONS

Media information and registration
Journalists and representatives of print and online newspapers are welcome to join the meeting’s plenary sessions on Monday and Tuesday. No fee will be charged. Meals are not included. Please register HERE until 15 August 2020 and download our PRESS RELEASE.
 
LIVESTREAM 
To allow remote attendance, livestream will be available for the plenary sessions on Monday (8.30-11.20; 14.15-17.45), Tuesday (8.30-10; 14-15.30) and Thursday (8.30-11.45).
