A tradition of Fribourg during which food and conviviality between family and friends are at the heart of the programme.

For one weekend, Fribourg folklore will be on show in the medieval streets of Estavayer-le-Lac. Epicureans and curious visitors alike will enjoy tasting, discovering, laughing and living around the Bénichon and its customs. Entertainment and a small farm in the Rue du Musée are set up to entertain young and old together. The Benichon menu is the star of the festival. Visitors with a taste for traditional dishes will be delighted to sample ham, lamb, meringues and cuchaule in the town’s restaurants.

Bénichon Market:
On Saturday from 9am to 6pm and on Sunday from 9am to 5pm, a craft market offering local products will delight all visitors. Sign up

Competition for the best Bénichon mustard:
Candidates compete in two categories: amateurs and professionals. The most delicious preparation wins the title of the best Benichon mustard in the canton of Fribourg. The mustard competition takes place on Saturday morning on the Place de l'Eglise or under the arcades (in case of bad weather). For more information and to register, click here.

Free rides in a horse-drawn cart:
On Saturday and Sunday from 11.00 am to 3.00 pm, 20-minute horse-drawn carriage rides through the town of Estavayer-le-Lac are organised and free of charge (please register in advance by e-mail tourisme@estavayer-payerne.ch or by phone at the Tourist Office).

Bénichon Farm:
Farm animals will be present in the Rue du Musée.

There will be live music in the Grand Rue, Rue de l'Hôtel de Ville and in the canteen. There are merry-go-rounds on the Place du Casino.
