The 29th edition of the European Heritage Days, on September 10 and 11, 2022, will be held under the theme "Freizeit - Temps libre - Tempo libero - Temps liber". The spotlight will be on places of art, relaxation and sport. In Switzerland, people spend many leisure hours in places full of history.
The aim of the European Heritage Days is to raise public interest in cultural assets and their conservation. On the occasion of this annual event, which takes place every second weekend in September, interested people are invited to take part in guided tours of monuments, workshops or archaeological excavations, excursions and many other activities throughout Switzerland.
These tours are organized by the monument preservation and archaeology services as well as other organizations or persons interested in cultural heritage. Each year, these services select the objects, contact the owners and organize the visits and animations.
The NIKE Center is responsible, at the national level, for the coordination of the several hundred events, for the dissemination of information to the media and the public, and for the publication of the program in the form of a brochure and on the Internet.
The European Heritage Days take place in 50 European countries.
